About Taliba
After having been told at the age of 17 that she had no coordination and could not dance, Taliba never again danced until a local bellydance instructor named Talia brought classes to her little town nearly 30 years later. She went because it sounded like so much more fun than a gym workout, and as a stay at home goddess in the country, winters were long and lonely. The first lesson hooked her at the age of 46. By the third lesson, she knew she was going to dance if only for herself and friends. When Talia returned to California, she was left feeling adrift as as she searched for a new bellydance home. Her search brought her to Azars, a local Greek restaurant where Nefabit dances on alternate Fridays. After meeting Nefabit and her mom, Delilah she knew she had found her new home. While still very much a baby dancer, she delights in the personal sense of empowerment, the bellydance community, and the sheer beauty and joy of the dance. She says she tends to "get lost" in the dance, conscious only of the beauty of the music and her body's instinctive response to it.
" 'Within the Power of the Dance, there lives
a light, to drive away the darkness' ...This
quote says very well how I feel about
BellyDancing. I have found my Joy,
and know that I will always dance! "
